part-time positions and offer no fringe benefits. If you are

Recreation Activities Director/Instructor
Supervisory and skilled work managing a specialized recreation
program or directing the activities of a seasonal recreation
site. Work may require specialized knowledge and skills,
working with specific age groups and/or targeted community
groups and requires the exercise of judgment.
Examples of Work: Directly
responsible for safety inspection of program equipment and
site and reports unsafe conditions to the central office.
Insures that programs and policies of the activity are in
accordance with the mission of the department. Publicizes
program/activity throughout the community, acts as the
department liaison and is alert and conscious of their
suggestions regarding problems. Maintains accurate and up to
date attendance reports, facility inspection, lighting
reports, inventory of supplies/equipment, accident reports
and participants medical forms. Provides direct leadership
to program participants and assisting personnel.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants
must be at least 21 years of age and possess a High School
Diploma or GED equivalent. At least 1 year relevant work
experience as a leader or instructor in one or more specialized
recreation activities. Possess current CPR and First Aid
certification prior to the first day of work.
Recreation Activities Assistant
Skilled work managing
a specialized program or directing activities of a seasonal
site and may require some supervisory work in the absence of
the Director. Work may require working with specific age groups
and/or targeted community groups and requires the exercise of
judgment.
Examples of Work: Assumes the role of
Director/Instructor in the absence of the Director. Works
with the Director/Instructor to develop program plans. Provides
direct leadership to program participants in a variety of
activities.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants
must be at least 18 years of age and possess a High School
Diploma or GED equivalent and current CPR and First Aid
certification prior to the first day of work. At least 9
months of relevant work experience.
Recreation Activities/Aide
Works as an assistant to
Director / Assistant Director. Performs a variety of routine
tasks and/or introductory level of instruction, leadership, or
technical assistant in support of recreation programs and
activities. Work is performed under the close supervision of
a Director / Assistant Director.
Examples of Work: Assisting the
Director / Instructor with all activities. Maintains an
energetic, enthusiastic approach and encourages participation
of all registrants.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants
must be at least 15 years of age and be able to read and
write. Possess some work experience as a participant or
L.I.T. in one or more recreation activities is preferred.
Fall - Program Learning Leaders and
Academic Learning Leaders for the Lifelong Learning Center.

Program Learning Leaders at the Lifelong Learning
Centers should be creative, child-oriented individuals to work
in a part-time after school setting in the elementary, middle
or high schools. This is an instructional
position responsible for the development and implementation of
creative learning and recreational activities that are designed
to reflect the talents and abilities of the leader and to
capture the interests of the participating students.
Candidates must be able to work effectively in a team setting,
complete accurate and timely documentation, and demonstrate a
positive and motivated attitude. The position hours will be
from 2:30 - 5:30 pm Monday thru Thursday, 12 weeks in the fall
and 12 weeks in the winter/spring, approximately 4-18
hours per week. Dependability and punctuality are a must.
Rate of pay is $16-$22 per hour, based on education and
experience. EOE
Academic Learning Leaders at the Lifelong Learning
Centers must be certified teachers and able to work after
school in the middle or high school setting. This is an
instructional position responsible for the
development and implementation of specific academic
intervention, education enrichment, and homework assistance
with a goal of promoting a positive learning experience.
Candidates must be able to work effectively in a team setting,
complete accurate and timely documentation, and demonstrate a
positive and motivated attitude. Teaching certificate preferred,
classroom experience a must. The position hours will be from
3:00-5:30 pm Monday thru Thursday, 12 weeks in the fall and
12 weeks in the winter/spring, approximately 4-18 hours per
week with some flexibility. Dependability and punctuality
are a must. Rate of pay is $22-$25 per hour, based on

Volunteer Opportunities
Recreation Program Volunteer
Assist the staff with implementing various types of recreational
activities, trips or special events. Duties include helping
with arts, crafts, sports, games, stories, music, homework etc.
Other duties may include assisting with children in a camp
setting, setting up or breaking down equipment for an activity
or event, or sorting and delivering flyers.
When: Ongoing, as needed
Mainstreaming Companion
Assist special needs youth at recreation programs, especially
summer camp. Duties may include promoting daily living skills,
helping a person stay focused on an activity, assisting a
disabled youth with physical limitations, etc.
When: Ongoing, as needed
Special Event Volunteer
Assist with setting up and taking down equipment for countywide
special events or assisting in children's activity area, craft
show area or information booth. Special seasonal event also
include direct interaction with events including scarecrow
making, holiday craft workshop, running races and fun runs,
Hershey Track and Field etc.
When: Ongoing - seasonally as needed
Youth Sports Instructor/Coach
Work with elementary through middle school children teaching
specific sports to include soccer, youth basketball, softball,
lacrosse, field hockey, youth wrestling, volleyball and more.
Requires instruction in fundamentals of sports strategy and
team play. Special age requirements apply to staff working with
youth. Must be 18 years of age and out of high school.
Experience is a plus, but we provide training. References and
background check required.
Leaders-in-Training (LIT) * (Summer Only)
Receive training and assist summer recreation staff with
various camp activities, including general/specialized sports
and games, arts and crafts, and supervision of participants.
Placements are limited, with priority given to returning LIT
volunteers. All youth selected must attend orientation and
specialized training sessions. Must be 13 or 14 years of age.
