The Recreation and Parks offices are located on the bottom
floor of the new General James F. Fretterd Community Center.
The entrance is on the south side of the building.
Formerly home to the 29th Division of the Maryland National
Guard, the Denton Armory has taken on a new assignment,
serving as a community center for the citizens of Caroline
County. This stately structure, originally constructed in
1938, underwent a complete renovation in 2008.
Operating as the General James F. Fretterd Community Center,
the building serves as headquarters for Caroline County
Recreation and Parks.
The official building dedication was held on November 13,
2008. The drill hall, now outfitted with a new maple floor
and basketball standards, as well as various activity rooms,
is available for public use reservations.
