Recreation Center

General James F. Fretterd Community Center
Located in the county seat at 107 South Fourth Street in Denton. The Community Center supports a number of department-sponsored programs and is available for community use / rent.

To rent the General James F. Fretterd Community Center please read the Building Use Policy below, and fill out the Facility Use Agreement (PDF Document 101 KB). Please note: You must have the fees and deposit in our office 3 weeks prior to the scheduled event.

Marina

Marina and Boat Ramps

These are developed public access points to the Choptank, Tuckahoe and Marshyhope Rivers with 10-20 foot wide ramps and parking facilities:
  • Choptank Marina: located on Water Street, south of Preston
  • Ganey’s Wharf: located on Ganey’s Wharf Road, west of Harmony
  • Greensboro Boat Ramp: off Sunset Avenue within the Town of Greensboro
  • Hillsboro Boat Ramp: off Main Street within the Town of Hillsboro

School and Community Parks

School and Community Parks are developed in partnership with the Board of Education for organized youth leagues and general public use:
  • Denton Elementary Sports Fields: Baseball, Soccer
  • Federalsburg Elementary Ballfields: Baseball
  • Lockerman School Senior League Field: Lighted Senior League Baseball
  • Preston Elementary School Athletic Fields: Baseball, Soccer, Tennis
  • Ridgely Elementary Ballfields: Baseball


Community / Neighborhood Parks

Community and neighborhood parks are facilities serving smaller communities and are generally limited to a playground and small multipurpose sports play areas.
  • Cedar Lane Park: located on Cedar Lane Road in Greensboro (ballfields only)
  • Dayspring Community Playground: located on School St. across from Dayspring Apartments
  • Harmony Community Park: located on Route 16, 5 miles north of Preston
  • Henderson Community Park: located on Bee Tree Road off Rt. 313
  • Jonestown Community Park: located on Rt. 16 north of Preston

Municipal Parks

These are within incorporated towns and include a great variety of recreation facilities. Questions regarding these parks should be directed to the respective Town Office:
