Who is eligible?
Financial assistance is for Caroline County Department of Recreation & Parks programs and only Caroline County residents are eligible to apply. The applicant must provide a copy of one of the following: their most recent Federal tax form 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ or Social Security Income Statement, an Independence Card, a WIC card for the participant/family and/or proof of Section 8 Public Housing Assistance. Pay stubs and W2's are not acceptable.

Immediately following approval all verification paperwork will be shredded.

How does the program work?
The amount of assistance for recreation programs your family receives is based on the number of dependents and annual income level. A co-payment of 20% is required for all programs at the time of registration.

Scholarships are limited to one per person, per season (maximum of 4 a year) and some restrictions do apply. For self-supporting programs the service must meet its minimum registration levels, which are defined internally for every program, before scholarship availability is an option.

Requirements and Exceptions
Financial assistance is available for most Department programs, with some exceptions. Scholarships are not available for Trips, Gift Certificates, One Time Admissions, Amusement Park Tickets Sales and programs costing less than $15.

In addition the department does not supply scholarships for programs sponsored by other organizations, but that may be affiliated in some way with the department (i.e. CCYSA Soccer, Little League etc.). These organizations may provide their own discounts or family rates.

To locate your league representatives visit our About Us page for a complete listing.

A co-pay of 20% of the total program fee is required at the time of registration.

How to apply?
You may apply for financial assistance at any time. We encourage you to apply early in order to avoid delays at the time of registration. To apply you must provide a completed application along with a copy of your tax form, Social Security Income Statement, WIC card for participant/family or proof of Section 8 Public Housing assistance. You will be notified by a call from our office of your scholarship acceptance.
