In order to be prepared, you must stay informed. This means plugging in to various media and keeping up to date on current events. Check all types of media - websites, newspapers, radio, TV, e-mail, apps, and social media for national and local information. During an emergency, the Department of Emergency Services provides information about the emergency, i.e. shelter openings, evacuation orders, closures, alerts, warnings, etc.
